The objective of the Computer-aided Design and Drafting module is to introduce students to Drafting and Design concepts, principles, software, the use of modern tools, and applications programs commonly used to produce designs that fulfill the requirements of the engineering design process.

The six, one-week lessons include:

  • Historical development of drafting and its principles

  • Freehand design sketching

  • Introduction to drafting application program basics

  • Use of application program to illustrate design and drafting principles

  • Dimensioning, tolerancing, and industry drafting standards

  • A design project that complements engineering design and manufacturing processes.
